Things to Do in York
Besides the interesting rustic feel of the town, there are plenty of pleasure spots within the city tourists love and frequent.
The York Museum Garden
This is a beautiful place to enjoy and unwind, especially after a long day’s drive. The botanic arrangement is breathtaking, surrounded by natural sceneries like the River Ouse a few minutes away. If you love architecture, the gardesque design will inspire you, and not forgetting the historic buildings located within the park. Plenty of concerts and festive activities are held in the park as well; you may be lucky and attend one this holiday season.
The York Castle Museum
The museum was erected at the same site where the Yorkshire Castle once stood. It was opened in early 19th century, designed immaculately in Norman architecture which has stood the test of time. Inside are a huge collection of artefacts highlighting York’s past including the expedition of William the Conqueror that happened around 1068. Besides the walk down memory lane, the York Caste Museum also hosts a number of theatrical performances as well as live concerts to entertain revellers.
The York Dungeons
For a grimmer look of York’s past, the Dungeons are the right place to visit. In it are detailed accounts of the prisoners once held captive in the dingy prisons, including a huge number of Jews during the anti-Semitic wars. But things are not always dim inside the dungeons, on a well organised evening, the dungeon transforms into a stage with comical plays and theatre performances from some of York’s fine talents.
